CTO in Training
Accredible
🚀 Join the team powering the future of digital credentials!
🚀 Accelerate Your Path to Technical Leadership
Accredible, the world’s leading digital credentialing platform, is looking for a highly motivated and intellectually curious CTO in Training to work directly with our Co-Founder & CTO on high-impact, business-critical technical initiatives.
This is not a typical junior developer role, it is a paid CTO apprenticeship, designed for someone who wants to immerse themselves in engineering, product strategy, technical problem-solving, and the inner workings of a scaling SaaS company.
If you’re passionate about technology, startups, and learning what it really takes to become a CTO, this is a rare and exceptional opportunity and we’d love to hear from you!
💼 About the Role
You will partner closely with our CTO on projects that directly shape our product, internal operations, and technical strategy. Your work will span hands-on prototyping, internal automation, customer solution design, and cross-functional collaboration with leadership and engineering.
Over time, your responsibilities will grow from execution → solution design → strategic decision-making, giving you a holistic view of what it means to lead technology in a rapidly scaling B2B SaaS company.
This role is a hybrid position based in Ely, Cambridgeshire, UK, with two in-office days per week (ideally Tuesday & Thursday).
🎯 Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with the CTO to design and build technical proofs-of-concept, prototypes, and internal tools.
- Contribute production-level code when speed and impact matter more than process.
- Develop automations and integrations to solve cross-team operational problems.
- Participate in technical customer and pre-sales calls with support from the CTO.
- Translate business requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions.
- Expand your responsibility from hands-on execution to architecture and strategy.
Examples of Real Projects You’ll Work On
- Building a feature prototype to validate customer demand and inform roadmap decisions.
- Creating a workflow automation using tools like Workato to unblock Marketing or Sales.
- Adding instrumentation or tracking to our monolith via targeted PRs.
- Joining a customer call to help design a tailored solution using Accredible’s platform.
🧠 Role-Based Competencies
- Programming experience. You have used a high level programming language and frameworks to build solutions.
- Web technologies experience. You have been developing web technologies professionally or personally. You have some knowledge of relational databases, scaling applications and solving technical problems.
- Business interest. You want to learn about startups and business. You are excited about learning the domain.
- Solution design. You are able to gather information on business requirements and use your knowledge of a product’s capabilities to design solutions to those requirements.
- Learn quickly. You have the ability to quickly absorb and make use of new information. You can research best practices and make use of them.
- Enthusiastic. You want to learn, grow and are excited to take on new challenges.
- Independent Problem solving. You are able to independently solve difficult technical and presentational problems and provide solutions or workarounds. You ask for help when you need it but try to solve things yourself.
- Attention to detail. You don't let important details slip through the cracks.
- Organization & Planning. You plan, organize and schedule in an efficient manner. You know which priorities are important and choose to work on those. You don't need constant input but are able to ask for help when needed.
💡 Cultural Qualities
- Great Communicator. Be succinct, create space for others to speak, and strive to benefit the atmosphere in a room.
- Results Oriented. Know what you’re trying to achieve, and measure progress.
- Proactive. Say “I intend to…” instead of waiting for permission.
- Dependable. Commit responsibly, follow through, and be intentional and open in delegating or dropping tasks where necessary.
- Prioritizer. Able to make high-leverage impacts on key areas.
- Bias to Action. Find ways forward and iterate with small steps to move quickly.
- Humble in feedback and debate. Be more like scientists, and welcome data driven debates that deliver the best possible outcome.
- Supportive. Understand that we win or lose as a team, and support those around you.
- Ambitious. Aim to be the best.
- Builder. Look for opportunities to improve processes, people, teams, and everything else.
