Meet the Team:
The Autonomy Technician supports the integration and maintenance of Torc’s self-driving software with our test vehicles. Responsibilities include providing direct test support, reviewing logs and maintenance histories, referencing manufacturers' manuals and specifications, performing inspections, diagnosing and repairing parts and problems, and supporting engineers to analyze and solve complex issues.
**Please note, this role is a 2nd shift schedule**
What you’ll do:
- Work as a team member with engineers, technicians, and field personnel on tests or R&D projects.
- Review logs and maintenance histories, reference manufacturers' manuals and specifications, and analyze, diagnose, and repair parts, compatibility issues, and problems.
- Inspect and document component installations, maintenance, repairs, and replacements.
- Provide time and parts estimates as needed, with an understanding of safety and urgency for vehicle turnaround. Ensure vehicles are operable and safe in conjunction with the Operational Safety Engineer.
- Maintain Torc’s test vehicles by ensuring their availability and readiness for software integration testing. Perform base vehicle services, calibrations, AD kit maintenance, and troubleshooting. Coordinate sensor replacements, repairs, and AD kit updates. Assist with vehicle preparations, such as fueling, install new sensors or hardware, deploy software, and support system integration testing as a Test Conductor. Track vehicle usage and availability metrics.
- Assist managers and procurement specialists to ensure adequate parts, fluids, materials, and supplies inventory levels are maintained at site and equipment locations.
What you’ll need to Succeed:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Formal education in automotive service and technology, electronics, or related technical/trade school certificate, or equivalent work experience required.
- A valid US Driver’s license with a safe driving record is required, as the position requires transportation to locations outside the main complex.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions and the ability to work in inclement weather/temperature extremes.
- The position requires the ability to enter, exit, and ride in both class 8 trucks and passenger vehicles.
- Experience in automotive or heavy machinery service and repair, including complex electrical systems.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and diagnosing vehicle or machinery issues using shop, automotive, and diagnostic tools.
- Skilled in using computers for communication, data collection, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, with a strong respect for safety.
- Energetic, self-motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with aggressive goals and timelines.
- Demonstrates technical aptitude, high-quality workmanship, and pride in maintaining standards.
