About this Role

Avidbots is looking for an enthusiastic and talented self-starter to join our Applications Engineering team. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong communication skills and great attention to detail. In this role, you will create impact by taking ownership of engineering prototype trials, analyzing robot usage behaviors, and working with an experienced software engineering team to prepare our next-generation robotic software features for production.

How you will make a difference

  • Coordinate and conduct engineering prototype, alpha and beta site trials.
  • Run autonomy performance studies in simulation and on experimental robot units.
  • Analyze field data and performance metrics to verify correct robot calibration, sensing and autonomous driving capabilities.
  • Work closely with the software development and QA teams to document, diagnose and resolve defects during engineering trials.
  • Develop software tools and scripts for process automation.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience with robotics and Robot Operating System (ROS).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong teamwork ethic.
  • Self-driven and self-motivated; you get things done with a passion for continuously raising the bar.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that may include criminal/civil background checks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with Atlassian (Confluence, Jira), Google Suites
  • Proficient with navigating and working with Linux-based operating system
  • Familiar with programming in C++, Python and Bash scripting
  • Exposure to sensors (3D cameras, Lidars or similar) and calibration
  • Experience with safety/diagnostics related software
