dcbel at the leading edge of the residential energy revolution, enabling decentralized energy consumption and production through its vertically integrated suite of energy hardware and software products, and their supporting infrastructure. Our flagship product, the dcbel Home Energy Station, is a small wall mounted device that gives everyone ownership over their energy supply by using solar power to charge their EV and home, unlocking their EV’s battery for backup power (V2H), and optimizing the energy flow between their solar panels, EVs, backup battery and the grid.

The opportunity

We are looking for a Lead UI Designer to build visually captivating and functional designs for new categories of products. Someone who endeavors to lead visual discovery and design from an ideation-led approach to creative execution with strategic input.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Define, formalize, advocate, and maintain dcbel product design language, UI design systems, accessibility compliant design standards and guidelines to create a strong visual identity across our product portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, UX Design, Industrial Design, SW/HW Engineering functions to ensure visual quality and consistency to deliver customer value.
  • Develop engaging user interfaces across multiple software/app platforms and systems.
  • Transform design briefs into hi-fi visual and interactive prototypes to achieve the desired outcome.
  • Present work to responsible stakeholders, capture and synthesize feedback.
  • Critique design reviews in a constructive manner to help progress the product design.
  • Assist designers and engineers to implement and deliver the final product.
  • Co-create visual media assets: logos, color palettes, graphical elements, animations, symbols/diagrams with the brand marketing team.

Key requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, computer science, design & visual communication, UI/UX design or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience designing and developing consumer products mobile/web app experiences and a minimum 5 years of experience as a team lead.
  • Exceptional portfolio showcasing recent UI design work with problem/solution process.
  • Knowledge of product discovery and user-centered design approaches.
  • Mastery of design skills: color, typography, information hierarchy, visual balance, and emphasis.
  • Proficient with prototyping and graphic design applications such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite(AdobeXD, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects)
  • Strong knowledge of frontend frameworks, basic understanding of web development HTML/CSS.
  • Attention to detail, visual presentation, and pixel accuracy.
  • Able to build strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Able to prioritize and manage tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Be open to constructive criticism.
