Role Overview

The Snr Manager, Managed DDoS SOC, provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for F5’s global Managed DDoS Security Operations Center. In addition, this role serves as the Regional Leader for EMEA, serving as a regional escalation point and responsible for service delivery and operational excellence, and field support across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The Snr Manager Managed DDOS SOC ensures the continuous protection and availability of customer applications and infrastructure, while fostering cross-functional collaboration and innovation in threat response, and mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute the long-term vision and strategy for the Managed DDoS SOC, ensuring alignment with F5’s business goals and evolving security needs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of modern, scalable processes and procedures for DDoS detection, mitigation, and incident response.
  • Drive the integration of automation, advanced analytics, and AI/ML technologies to optimize SOC operations and proactively address emerging threats.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee 24x7 monitoring, response, and mitigation of multi-vector DDoS attacks (Layers 3, 4, and 7), leveraging F5’s global scrubbing centers and distributed cloud infrastructure.
  • Ensure rapid response and resolution of security incidents, maintaining industry-leading SLAs for first response and mitigation.
  • Establish and track operational metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing SOC team, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
  • Develop and measure the maturity, effectiveness, and resiliency of SOC teams, including analyst certification, training completion, and tenure metrics.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to managers and technical leads across multiple shifts and regions.

Customer Engagement & Service Delivery

  • Act as a trusted advisor and technical liaison for F5 customers, ensuring exceptional service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee onboarding, support ticket escalation, and incident management processes, ensuring clear communication and effective resolution.
  • Deliver comprehensive, accurate reporting and insights to both technical and executive audiences.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Development, Engineering, Sales, and other business units to align SOC operations with product roadmaps and customer requirements.
  • Champion a united front with customers, managing relationships and building confidence in F5’s Managed DDoS services.

Regional Leader, EMEA – Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the regional SOC strategy for EMEA, ensuring alignment with global objectives and local market needs.
  • Lead regional SOC operations, including recruitment, training, and development of EMEA-based analysts and managers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for EMEA customers, partners, and stakeholders, representing F5’s Managed DDoS SOC in regional forums and industry events.
  • Monitor and respond to region-specific threat landscapes, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Foster collaboration with EMEA sales, marketing, and support teams to drive business growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with local data privacy, security, and operational regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred); equivalent experience considered.
  • 10+ years’ experience in SOC or similar operational environments, with escalating responsibilities.
  • 5+ years’ experience supporting commercial organizations in direct or indirect security operations.
  • Proven expertise in DDoS mitigation, incident response, and security operations management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational transformation, manage cross-functional teams, and deliver measurable business impact.
  • Experience working in or leading teams in the EMEA region is highly desirable.

Preferred Certifications

  • CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent security certifications.
  • F5 Certified Technology Specialist (DDoS, WAF, or Cloud Security).
