At F5, we strive to bring a better digital world to life. Our teams empower organizations across the globe to create, secure, and run applications that enhance how we experience our evolving digital world. We are passionate about cybersecurity, application delivery, customer trust, and the role technology plays in helping businesses deliver fast, secure, and resilient digital experiences.
F5 is looking for a Senior Product and Innovation Communications Manager to help shape and drive external communications for some of the company’s most important security, product, innovation, and resilience narratives.
This role sits at the intersection of executive communications, cybersecurity storytelling, product and services positioning, customer trust, and strategic narrative development. The ideal candidate is a high-judgment communications leader and strong writer who can translate complex technical, security, and market shifts into clear, credible, customer-facing narratives for executive, CISO, practitioner, media, and industry audiences.
This is not a traditional content role. It requires someone who can operate strategically and independently with senior executives and cross-functional partners, connect technical topics to market relevance, and ensure F5’s external communications consistently ladder up to the company’s broader corporate narrative and business priorities.
What You’ll Do
As Senior Product and Innovation Communications Manager, you will develop and execute external communications programs that strengthen F5’s voice in security, resiliency, product innovation, AI, customer trust, and application delivery.
You will:
- Lead strategic external communications for F5’s Security and Resiliency narrative, including thought leadership, executive visibility, customer trust, services evolution, and regulatory-adjacent topics.
- Develop executive communications for senior technical and business leaders across product, security, services, marketing, and customer-facing functions.
- Translate complex topics such as AI-accelerated risk, application security, application delivery, vulnerability management, resilience, customer trust, and services innovation into clear, credible narratives for external audiences.
- Create high-quality executive communications materials, including bylined articles, blogs, talking points, LinkedIn posts, keynote and session abstracts, media narratives, prep briefs, customer communications, and internal alignment documents.
- Partner with Product, Services, Legal, Public Affairs, Security, Marketing, and Communications stakeholders to ensure external narratives are accurate, aligned, and strategically useful.
- Help shape F5’s point of view on emerging cybersecurity and technology trends, with a focus on what matters most to CISOs, CIOs, technical decision-makers, and enterprise customers.
- Support issues management and customer trust communications related to security, vulnerabilities, regulatory-adjacent topics, and other sensitive external matters.
- Build strong relationships with executives and subject matter experts to identify timely, differentiated thought leadership opportunities.
- Ensure communications are aligned to F5’s corporate narrative, product strategy, market positioning, and broader go-to-market priorities.
- Bring strong editorial judgment to determine when, where, and how F5 should show up externally on priority topics.
What You’ll Bring
- 8–12+ years of experience in communications, public relations, executive communications, product communications, corporate communications, or related fields.
- Experience in cybersecurity, enterprise technology, cloud, infrastructure, AI, public policy, regulated industries, or other technically complex environments.
- Proven ability to support senior executives, especially technical, security, product, or services leaders.
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to move across formats, audiences, and levels of technical depth.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical and security concepts into clear, customer-facing narratives.
- Strong judgment and comfort working on sensitive topics, including customer trust, vulnerability communications, issues management, regulatory-adjacent narratives, and security-related matters.
- Ability to operate independently while staying tightly aligned to business priorities, executive direction, and corporate narrative.
- Executive presence and confidence working directly with senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
- Strong strategic discipline, with the ability to distinguish between content creation and communications strategy.
- A collaborative working style and the ability to build trust across teams with different priorities, perspectives, and operating rhythms.
- A high bar for accuracy, clarity, and credibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting cybersecurity, product, innovation, trust, or resilience narratives at an enterprise technology company.
- Familiarity with CISO, CIO, security practitioner, and technical decision-maker audiences.
- Experience with AI security, application security, application delivery, cloud, hybrid multicloud, APIs, threat intelligence, or resilience-related topics.
- Prior experience supporting executive thought leadership programs, media narratives, customer communications, or high-visibility corporate moments.
- Experience partnering with Legal, Public Affairs, Product, Services, and Security teams on external communications.
- Ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous, fast-moving topics.
Success in This Role Looks Like
You will be successful in this role if you can help F5 communicate with greater clarity, credibility, and consistency on the security and innovation topics that matter most to customers.
That means building external narratives that are technically grounded, strategically aligned, and relevant to the executives and practitioners F5 needs to reach. It also means knowing when to lead, when to pressure test, when to simplify, and when to bring the right stakeholders together before a message goes external.
