While scientific insight remains important, we are especially looking for someone who thrives by supporting others — someone who can create an environment where researchers are empowered, motivated, and resilient in the face of tough, unsolved challenges. Working in close collaboration with technical leads across the company, the candidate will:- Lead and support the day-to-day work of the Theory team, ensuring that each team member has what they need to thrive — scientifically, professionally, and with care for their well-being.- Foster a motivating, respectful, and collaborative environment within the team and across interfaces with other groups.- Contribute to defining the team’s structure and support its growth through mentoring, recruitment, and skill development.- Guide research efforts and ensure alignment with Nord Quantique’s roadmap and hardware development priorities. Education and experience requirements:- PhD in Physics, Quantum Information, or a related field.- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantum theory or quantum computing research.- Experience leading or coordinating theoretical efforts in an academic or industrial setting.- Strong background in interdisciplinary collaboration and research-to-development transfer. Sought expertise and knowledge:The team’s work spans two complementary areas of focus. We welcome candidates with experience in either axis — and especially those motivated to grow into new areas of expertise.– Bosonic QEC Axis:- Understanding of quantum error correction principles and their implementation.- Design and analysis of bosonic codes, especially multimode grid codes (i.e. multimode generalization of the GKP code).- Strategies for bosonic autonomous error correction and logical operations.– cQED & System-Level Modeling Axis:- Modeling of cQED dynamics in superconducting quantum systems.- Optimization of pulse-level control strategies.- System-level performance modeling, including coherence and error budgets.– Core expertise shared by the two axes:- Familiarity with open quantum systems and decoherence mechanisms.- Experience with numerical modeling and analytical analysis.- Strong communication and scientific documentation practices.
