QA Manager

Ready Education

Ready Education

Quality Assurance
United States
Posted on Mar 10, 2026

ROLE PURPOSE

As QA Manager at Ready Education, you will lead and grow our quality assurance function across our student engagement platform. You'll set the overall QA strategy, mentor a team of QA engineers, and work closely with Engineering, Product, and Design to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle. You'll balance hands-on involvement — from test design to automation — with the strategic oversight needed to scale QA practices as we grow globally.

We're looking for someone who is genuinely excited about the transformative potential of AI in quality engineering — from AI-assisted test generation and intelligent defect analysis to leveraging the latest tools to keep our QA practice at the bleeding edge.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own and evolve the QA strategy across Ready Education's SaaS platform, covering manual, automated, performance, and accessibility testing.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion the adoption of AI-powered tools and emerging technologies to enhance test coverage, accelerate automation, and improve defect detection across the platform.
  • Partner with engineering leads and product managers during feature design and sprint grooming to define acceptance criteria and surface edge cases early.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of automated test suites (UI, integration, regression) using Playwright or equivalent frameworks.
  • Champion shift-left testing practices, integrating QA input from discovery through to release.
  • Drive release readiness processes, including smoke testing, regression cycles, and environment validation across web and mobile platforms.
  • Define and track QA metrics (defect escape rate, test coverage, regression cycle time, etc.) and report on platform quality to senior leadership.
  • Manage QA tooling, test environments, and test data infrastructure in collaboration with DevOps and Platform Engineering.
  • Lead root cause analysis on critical defects and implement systemic improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Continuously refine the balance between manual exploratory testing and scalable automation across squad teams.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 4+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a QA lead role; formal people management experience is a plus but not required — we're invested in developing the right person.
  • Proven experience testing SaaS platforms or large-scale, multi-user web and mobile applications.
  • Strong technical foundation is essential: hands-on experience with Playwright (preferred) or comparable automation frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Selenium, Jest).
  • Ability to write, review, and maintain automated test scripts in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for AI and emerging tools in the QA space — you stay current and actively look for ways to apply new technologies to testing workflows.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodology, test design techniques, and defect management practices.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using tools such as Jira, Linear, or similar.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI) and version control workflows (Git).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across distributed, cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and deeply user-focused mindset.
  • Experience with mobile app testing (iOS and/or Android) is a strong advantage.
