The Market Sales Manager, Boston is responsible for growing Sonder’s RevPar through the prospecting, booking, and management of local corporate transient and group business. This experienced seller will lean on his/her deep network of transient and group travel managers and best practices to secure revenue for Sonder’s priority cities and hotel & apartment inventory. This new position will be prospecting, managing, maintaining and closing accounts in order to significantly grow Sonder’s share within the corporate transient and group travel segments; keenly focused on accounts with midweek needs. This experienced seller is a self leader and knows how to proactively nurture relationships with a tactical approach to drive overall revenue and brand loyalty.

AT SONDER YOU WILL:

  • Proactively identify new business opportunities, including local businesses, associations, and institutions that generate Corporate Transient and Group travel into the markets
  • Maintain strong relationships with Corporate Transient and Group accounts that produce or have the potential to grow revenue
  • Leverage established relationships with corporate travel managers, meeting planners and key decision makers to ensure new bookings and repeat bookings are closed at a high conversion rate by implementing efficient, client-positive, and revenue-positive processes
  • Manage and support the process, from target account identification to contract to negotiate and signing to account nurturing, of growing Corporate Account and Group client base at the territory level
  • Manage the RFP Process: complete all RFPs and create compelling business cases for preferred accounts
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients and downstream channels, this individual will implement signed agreements, understand the benefits of personal relationships, and manage those relationships to increase revenue production
  • Coordinate ongoing research of the industry to detect market trends and related information for the development of new marketing strategies; make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from the business transient market
  • Work closely with partner teams such as Revenue Management and Community Leaders to ensure that accounts' needs are met and that bookings are financially beneficial
  • Attend trade shows and major market events locally and nationally to promote new business and increase sales and marketing opportunities
  • Manage own travel and successfully set up and expedite direct and collaborative sales calls
  • Develop and implement sales action plans to achieve business goals
  • Partner with Market Operations to create successful ‘hand-off’ of group guests from booking to post-booking, to pre-arrival to arrival phases of the stay.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:

  • Minimum 4 years successfully driving hotel group sales, and nurturing existing clients, in a growing service-based organization.
  • Proven success as a trail-blazer, incredible ability and passion for building something new in a growing organization; proven success in building a ‘sales playbook’ from the ground up.
  • Proven success in driving an organization’s revenue through proactively targeting, negotiating with, and securing new productive partnerships and business.
  • Thorough understanding of hospitality sales process. Understanding of hospitality reservations, rate quoting, and distribution processes is very beneficial.
  • Incredible balance of left & right brain; extremely organized and extremely communicative.
  • Solid financial acumen; understands how the team’s goals support the organization’s financial goals.
  • Passion, positivity, and an ability to flex with a growing organization!
