You will be working on the next generation wireless ASICs and SoCs that are used in range of SPARK Microsystems products such as mice, audio headsets, speakers, proximity detection, ranging and the IoT. You will work closely with the product and design team to develop the architecture of complex UWB SoC (System on Chip) that include the Radio Frequency (RF) Transceiver, Digital Baseband and a Micro-Controller Unit (MCU). This position reports to the Director of ASIC Development.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop the UWB SoC Radio System architecture that includes RF PHY Transceiver (LNA, mixers, filters, power amplifiers, DACs and ADCs), Digital Baseband (Signal Processing) and Micro-Controller Unit that runs the Radio Stack.
  • Translate product requirements into a system architecture and high-level specifications for the design of UWB SoC/ASIC with considering factors like signal bandwidth, sensitivity, latency and power consumption.
  • Design Algorithms for Coherent and Non-Coherent radios, including optimizing PHY layer control of the RF and baseband to achieve cutting-edge performance.
  • Evaluate design trade-offs across different architectures and circuit blocks to achieve optimal performance within power and area constraints.
  • Develop comprehensive models of the system architecture by analyzing system performance metrics like RF Link Budget, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), carrier frequency accuracy, Packet error rate (PER), modulation quality, coverage area, throughput, spectral efficiency, intermodulation distortion (IMD), and gain.
  • Work closely with analog and digital ASIC designers, test engineers and manufacturing engineers to ensure the system architecture is a feasible solution and meets the product requirements.
  • Participate as needed in development and design reviews.
  • Take a leadership role in product and system validation.
  • Mentor and transfer knowledge to other team members.

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of RF integrated circuit design experience including 5+ years of RF System integrated circuit architecture experience.
  • Expertise in RF system architecture of transmitters/receivers and in Digital Signal Processing for Wireless Communication Systems.
  • Understanding of RF principles, knowledge of RF circuit design, including impedance matching, noise analysis, power amplifiers, mixers, filters, and RF system concepts.
  • Experience in designing RF and analog circuits like amplifiers, comparators, ADCs, along with understanding of mixed-signal design considerations.
  • Lab experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, etc. for debugging and validating RF integrated circuit.
  • Experience in modeling development using Python and C/C++ .
  • Experience with ASIC design flow for Analog/Mixed Signal Design.
  • Expertise in using RF design tools from Candence and digital from Synopsys.
  • Experience with system validation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex design issues, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

    Promote the following values/qualities
  • Cooperation: Have the success of the team at heart.
  • Rigor: Take pride in carefully executed work.
  • Motivation: Exceed your limits in a job you love.
  • Initiative: Propose new ideas and act.
  • Leadership: Positively influencing those around us.
