Engineering Project Manager

SPARK Microsystems is looking for an Engineering Project Manager to lead the development of embedded systems that integrate our proprietary UWB wireless technology. These systems are used across a variety of applications including wireless audio headsets, gaming mice, smart sensors, industrial modules, and IoT platforms. Many of these projects are portable or battery-powered.
You will be responsible for driving project planning, execution, and delivery in collaboration with engineering and product teams. The role may also expand to include program management, overseeing multiple interconnected projects or initiatives, coordinating timelines and resources, and aligning deliverables to business and strategic goals. This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering.
Your Responsibilities
- Define and maintain project and program scopes, objectives, and key deliverables in collaboration with engineering and product stakeholders.
- Develop integrated schedules and detailed project plans covering hardware, firmware, validation, and system integration activities.
- Lead cross-functional teams through all phases of development, from concept to deployment, ensuring technical alignment and adherence to quality, cost, and time targets.
- Identify and manage project and program risks, issues, and dependencies. Drive mitigation and resolution strategies.
- Provide transparent and consistent communication on project/program status, key decisions, risks, and performance metrics to leadership and stakeholders.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to track milestones and manage shared resources across concurrent projects.
- Maintain documentation including requirement traceability, meeting records, progress dashboards, and post-mortem reports.
- Establish and implement project management best practices across the organization to ensure consistency, efficiency, and high-quality project execution.
- Ensure compliance with SPARK’s New Product Introduction (NPI) process and governance standards.
- Promote continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and contributing to process optimization.
- Coach and mentor other project managers fostering consistency in project delivery across the organization and continuous improvement in project execution.Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in embedded systems development.
- 7+ years of experience managing technical projects involving embedded hardware and firmware.
- Solid understanding of embedded system architecture (HW/FW integration), RF design, and product development lifecycles.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects using Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.
- Proficiency with project and program management tools (e.g., TargetProcess, Jira, Microsoft Project).
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Excellent leadership, organization, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to grasp and manage technical details across hardware and firmware.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, iterative, and growing organization.
- Highly analytical, proactive, and results-oriented.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
