HR Director

This is a unique opportunity to lead and continue to shape the HR function at SPARK. You’ll have the chance to build and continuously improve HR programs and initiatives while partnering closely with leadership and team members across the organization. At the same time, you’ll remain hands-on and operational, directly shaping the programs, policies, and managing day-to-day activities.
As the HR Director, you will provide strategic direction, leadership and management on all human resource functions including strategic planning, HR reporting and analytics, training and development, recruitment and retention, as well as overall employee engagement. Located in our main headquarters in Montreal, the HR Director will report directly to the VP of Finance and Administration.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all HR functions globally, including employee engagement, talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, total compensation, and learning & development.
- Lead the execution of both the short and long-term HR strategy in support of the overall vision and goals of SPARK.
- Lead HR initiatives and best practices that support the HR strategy, people well-being and cross-collaboration.
- Act as a strategic partner to leadership, advising on workforce planning, organizational development, retention practices and employee engagement.
- Participate in various strategic sessions with the executive leadership team.
- Define and promote SPARK’s culture, ensuring our values are embedded across all practices, programs and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations while building and improving HR policies and procedures.
- Oversee and improve SPARK’s HRIS and Intranet to ensure efficiency, scalability, and a great employee experience.
- Offer support, guidance, and coaching to leaders and managers across the organization.
- Organize and execute training and development initiatives.
- Track and maintain key HR metrics and KPIs to measure impact and support data-driven decisions.
- Manage the HR day-to-day operational activities.
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor in Human Resources or Industrial Relations.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in an HR role, with demonstrated expertise in a broad range of HR functions.
- Proven experience in HR leadership or as a senior HR Generalist/Business Partner with the ambition and drive to step into a lead role.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into HR initiatives.
- Passionate about creating a positive employee experience and developing a thriving workplace culture.
- Experience in a mutli-jurisdiction/country workforce base is a must.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Quebec employment laws.
- CHRP Designation.
- Excellent communication skills and writing skills in both French and English. This role requires to work regularly with co-workers, located globally.
- Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- High level of ownership of complete projects.
- Ability to positively interact with engineering, operations, and sales and marketing teams.
