SPARK Microsystems is looking for a hands-on, versatile Senior Manager, IT to lead the evolution of our internal IT environment and help build a scalable, secure, and well-governed infrastructure.

As we continue to grow, we are strengthening the foundation of our internal IT environment to ensure it is secure, scalable, and aligned with the needs of a fast-moving technology company.

This is a player-coach role with a strong technical focus: approximately 80% hands-on technical work and 20% leadership and coordination.

You will own the roadmap, architecture, implementation, and day-to-day operations of SPARK’s IT infrastructure, while helping bring structure, discipline, and operational maturity to the function as the company evolves.

This is not a purely supervisory role. You will be expected to personally implement a meaningful portion of the solutions you define, including deploying servers, writing scripts, configuring systems, rolling out tools, strengthening controls, and formalizing policies and operational practices.

Your Impact

A key mandate of this role is to help SPARK define and execute a clear IT roadmap in support of ISO 27001 certification, including:

  • Deployment of appropriate tools
  • Infrastructure improvements
  • Security control enhancements
  • Governance and operational practices

You will be comfortable moving directly from planning to execution, taking ownership of both design and hands-on implementation of critical IT initiatives.

You will also ensure SPARK’s IT environment can scale effectively alongside company growth.

This role complements our strengths in networking, cybersecurity, and Linux infrastructure, with a strong need for deep expertise in the Microsoft ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve SPARK’s internal IT infrastructure strategy, roadmap, and operations
  • Design, deploy, and maintain Windows-based infrastructure (Windows Server, Active Directory)
  • Administer, secure, and optimize Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune)
  • Lead identity, access, and security initiatives supporting ISO 27001 readiness and certification
  • Build and execute clear implementation plans for IT initiatives (infrastructure, tools, policies, controls)
  • Personally execute key technical initiatives (deployments, scripting, configuration, security improvements)
  • Manage endpoint lifecycle and workplace IT services (Windows devices, SaaS platforms, telecom systems)
  • Implement automation and scripting to improve efficiency, standardization, and operational maturity
  • Strengthen backup, recovery, monitoring, logging, patching, and access control practices
  • Manage IT vendors, licensing, purchasing, and external service providers
  • Provide leadership within the IT function and help structure a growing team

Required Qualifications

  • 8–12 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or a related role
  • Experience in SMB environments with broad scope, autonomy, and ownership
  • Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server and Microsoft infrastructure
  • Deep knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, identity management, and access control
  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune)
  • Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation and administration
  • Solid understanding of Azure, networking fundamentals, and infrastructure troubleshooting
  • Good knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, IT governance, and compliance environments
  • Experience managing vendors, licensing, procurement, and external service providers
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English
  • Demonstrated ability to remain hands-on and directly implement technical solutions

Nice to Have

  • Experience with ISO 27001 preparation, implementation, or certification
  • Hybrid identity environments (on-prem Active Directory + Entra ID)
  • Monitoring/logging tools (Splunk, ELK, or similar)
  • Infrastructure automation or Infrastructure-as-Code practices
  • Virtualization and disaster recovery planning
  • Exposure to Linux environments
  • Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL in engineering environments

What We’re Looking For

  • You are a structured, autonomous, and service-oriented IT leader who enjoys staying close to the technology while bringing order, rigor, and accountability to the function.
  • You are comfortable owning infrastructure end-to-end—from architecture and implementation to operations and continuous improvement.
  • You don’t just define the plan—you execute it.
  • You thrive in SMB environments where versatility matters and where success requires balancing technical execution, governance, and organizational maturity.
  • You are also comfortable working with senior leadership to translate business needs into clear IT priorities, sound technical decisions, and measurable outcomes.

The Perks

  • Key role in a rapidly growing, innovative startup
  • Collaborative, supportive, and motivating work environment
  • Strong opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Competitive benefits package
  • Employee stock option plan
  • Flexible scheduling and hybrid remote/in-office work arrangements
