The Senior Manufacturing Support Engineer supports manufacturing and production test activities for products based on SPARK’s Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology and contributes to the design and development of embedded UWB systems across target markets, including HID, audio, IoT, industrial applications, and asset tracking.
This role plays a critical part in enabling efficient product introductions and stable production ramps across EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production phases. Acting as a key liaison between engineering teams, FAEs, and OEM/ODM customers, the successful candidate will help drive manufacturing excellence, yield improvement, and rapid issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacturing & Production Support (UWB Products)
- Provide hands-on technical support to OEM/ODM customers and Field Application Engineers (FAEs) throughout EVT, DVT, PVT, and production ramp phases.
- Lead troubleshooting activities related to manufacturing issues, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in on-site product bring-up activities during critical New Product Introduction (NPI) phases.
- Collaborate closely with FAEs to ensure clear, timely, and effective technical communication with customers.
- Track, document, and resolve technical issues using internal systems and processes.
- Production Test Development & Optimization (UWB Systems)
- Design, develop, and optimize production test stations, fixtures, and calibration procedures.
- Develop test methodologies and improve production test setups for accuracy, reliability, and throughput.
- Analyze production and test data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- RF & Embedded Systems Engineering Support
- Contribute to embedded systems engineering, system validation, and debugging activities.
- Support RF/UWB investigations, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Help improve overall product robustness, manufacturability, and production readiness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 8–12+ years of experience in hardware, embedded systems, or RF engineering.
- 3–5+ years of hands-on manufacturing support experience for embedded products, including EVT, DVT, PVT, and production ramp phases.
- Strong experience with production testing, manufacturing ramp-up, and yield optimization.
- Hands-on experience with debugging tools, lab instrumentation, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Solid embedded systems experience.
- Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with RF and/or Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technologies.
- Experience working with OEMs, ODMs, or contract manufacturers (CMs).
- Experience developing automated production test systems.
- Background in consumer electronics or IoT products.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Eligibility for membership with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
