Your role and responsibilities:
As part of the Packaging Team within the Hardware group in Toronto, you will utilize your hands-on expertise in advanced device integration and sample preparation to contribute directly to Xanadu's rack-scale quantum computer development. In the role of Photonic Laboratory Technician, you will join a growing team to provide crucial laboratory support for the design, assembly, and characterization of complex photonic assemblies, applying your integration and assembly skills to our leading-edge quantum hardware.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • BSc or higher in Electrical Engineering, Photonics Engineering,Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Experience in the ball and wedge wirebonding
  • Experience in designing simple printed circuit boards (PCBs) using EDA tools like kiCad or Altium.
  • ​​Experience in the polishing and other methods of the sample preparation for metrology and optical experiments
  • Experience with mechanical design software, such as Autocad Fusion or Solidworks.
  • Experience preparing SOWs and BOMs & inventory management for different projects
  • Strong communication skills, demonstrated by effective interaction with vendors, internal customers, and external customers.
  • Basic knowledge in microscopy techniques
  • Working proficiency of Python programming.
  • Self-motivated, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with people of all disciplines on complex projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Experience with splicing optical fibers for the low loss transmission.
  • Experience with highly sensitive and high precision optical measurements.
  • Knowledge of version control software and common software development practices in a team environment.
  • Experience of working in clean room environments.
  • Experience in the failure analysis techniques
  • Familiarity with systems involving photonic chip & fiber systems.
  • Experience in epoxy based die to carrier bonding
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
This is for a new position. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and internal benchmarks. The base salary range is 80,000 - 100,000 CAD. You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
