Your role and responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, you will be a high-visibility leader responsible for scaling our accounting function. You will balance strategic oversight with a hands-on approach to technical and operational accounting.

  • Financial Leadership & Growth: Lead the expansion of the financial accounting function, hiring and developing a high-performance team while implementing scalable processes.
  • Reporting & Close Management: Oversee the production of timely, accurate consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Audit & Compliance: Coordinate the annual external audit as the primary liaison, manage tax compliance workstreams, and lead internal controls/SOX compliance efforts.
  • Operational Excellence: Assess and optimize current accounting and payroll operations, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and quality.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with FP&A to track financial performance and work closely with Internal Audit to mitigate organizational risks.
  • Systems Oversight: Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databases, leading system implementations as needed.

Basic qualifications and experience:

  • Education & Certification: CPA designation is required.
  • Professional Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Public Company Expertise: 3+ years of experience in a public company environment with a demonstrated ability to transition an accounting function from private to public requirements.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Proven ability to design and implement SOX-compliant, scalable processes.
  • Communication & Leadership: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization and with external vendors.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Previous experience at a Big 4 firm
  • Experience in hardware manufacturing, inventory management, or the SaaS industry
  • Interest in the quantum computing industry and/or Xanadu’s technology

This is for a new position. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and internal benchmarks. The base salary range is 180,000 - 200,000 CAD. You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
